Freezer Data earns commission from qualifying purchases made through links on this site. This page explains exactly how that works and what it does and does not influence.
The short version
Links to Amazon on this site carry an affiliate tag. If you follow one and buy something, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay the same price you would have paid otherwise — the commission comes out of Amazon’s margin, not out of your pocket.

Freezer Data is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
What it does not influence
Commission does not affect which products appear, the order they appear in, or the figures published about them. It could not easily do so even if we wanted it to: the comparisons on this site are computed from published specifications by a process that has no input for how much a product pays. A unit that compares badly against its category baseline compares badly on every page it appears on.
No manufacturer has paid for placement here, and none has been given the opportunity to. We do not accept sponsored reviews, paid inclusion, or free samples — the last of which would be moot in any case, since we do not test.
Prices and availability
We do not publish exact prices. Prices and availability on Amazon change constantly, and a figure captured when the data was collected would be wrong by the time you read it. The price shown on Amazon at the moment you buy is the one that applies, and it is the only one you should rely on.
How the links are built
Affiliate links here are generated at the moment a page is rendered, from a single tag stored once in the site’s configuration. Page content does not carry the tag, which has two consequences worth knowing: the tag can be changed without rewriting anything, and if a page is copied or scraped elsewhere, it does not carry our tag with it.
Outbound affiliate links are marked with the sponsored attribute, which is the signal search engines ask publishers to use for paid or commissioned links. That is a requirement we are happy to meet — a link that earns us money is exactly the sort of link a reader and a crawler should both be able to identify as such.
What we would have to change to mislead you
It is worth being specific about this, because “our recommendations are independent” is asserted by everyone. The comparisons here are computed. A page shows a unit’s capacity against the median for its form factor and size class, and both figures come from the same pipeline that processes every other unit. To favour a product we would have to alter either its published specification or the baseline it is measured against, and the second would change every page in that category.
That is not a claim about our integrity. It is a description of how the system is built, which is the sort of claim you can check.
Why this matters to you
Affiliate income is how this site is funded, and you are entitled to know that when you read it. The alternative funding models for a site like this — sponsored placement, paid inclusion, or manufacturer relationships — all put pressure directly on the thing this site is for.
Commission on a sale we did not influence the choice of is the least distorting arrangement we could find. It is not a neutral one, and this page exists so you can weigh it yourself.
